LumpDolls

In rural Tunisia, most women don’t know how to check themselves for breast cancer, and traditional awareness campaigns often fail to reach them. Fortunately, the answer came from within the culture itself: Sejnane pottery dolls, handmade by rural women and passed down for generations as symbols of strength and protection.

By collaborating with these artisans, we transformed each doll into a health messenger and breast cancer diagnostic tool, adding a small clay lump on the chest, engraved Berber symbols that invited and guided women to check themselves through touch.

Distributed through Carrefour stores, schools, and NGOs, LumpDolls reached over 1 million women, driving a significant increase in self-checks and five early detections.
